Why Are You Feeling Guilty?

Sometimes I have these small little moments during the day where I realize that I will never experience this again.

Living in a dingy little apartment with my friends and laughing our asses off, making origami in a cubicle to pass the time, commuting in the morning as the sun slowly spills over the San Bernardino mountains.

I become more aware of things like that as graduation approaches. It’s not that I’m dreading life outside of school or leaving all these good times behind. I’m just really grateful and I want to savor it.

As exciting as the future may be, I think it’s important to enjoy the present and enjoy the process for what it is.

Young people like me can’t wait to do X, dream about doing Y, and are excited when they can finally Z.  Me? I can’t wait to move out, I dream about making music for films and games I love, and I’m excited for the day when I can finally feel like I’m living up to my full potential.

Young people like me.

If there’s one thing I might regret in the future, it would be not enjoying my life more outside of my own ambitions.

Taking everything too seriously,

Struggling to make time for family and friends,

Taking life’s simplest pleasures for granted.

Yeah, I mean a dream is just a dream without a plan

You’re not just suddenly going to become amazing

Having a plan and breaking down your dream into goals is important

In fact, I don’t see how else you would do it really

But don’t ever feel guilty when things don’t go as planned.

Let yourself indulge in the warm company of friends,

Enjoy sleeping in once in a while,

Eat that brownie,

Have another avocado salsa burrito.

These are the dots you will look back on one day

And connect to create the solution to your next problem.

So live your life kiddo!

It’s productive, I promise. :)

Thank me later.
